Description:

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Prepares annual education plan for department and requests in-service training topics to be presented by appropriate CBH staff for department employees.
  2. Attends department head meetings, and has frequent communication with other department heads; meets regularly with Administrative Head and provides written reports as required.
  3. Directly supervises Lead Cooks and is responsible for overall supervision of diet aides; directs food inventory, ordering, receiving, storage, food preparation and meal delivery. Including special catering requests.
  4. Develops methods of foodservice sanitation/safety, responsible for maintenance and function of foodservice equipment, recommends purchase of new equipment, and maintains ServSafe Manager certification.
  5. M-F screen new admissions for food preferences using food preference sheet.
  6. Prepares employee time schedules and adjusts schedules as needed to ensure appropriate coverage of department.
  7. Responsible for accurate editing of employee timeclock activity each pay period.
  8. Writes, reviews and updates departmental policies and procedures working with the dietician to ensure accuracy.
  9. Maintains department compliance with District policies and procedures as well as State and Federal regulations.
  10. Completes appropriate forms for posting of positions, reviews applications and participates in interviews.
  11. Coordinates and oversees orientation and training of new employees to the department.
  12. Conducts 90-day introductory and annual employee performance evaluations according to HR policy.
  13. Interviews, counsels and disciplines staff as appropriate.
  14. Assists Administration/Accounting in the annual budgetary process. Adheres to and monitors the departmental budget.
  15. Must be able to train in all positions to fill shortages in the dietary department as needed. (Dishwasher, Trayline, Café, and Cook)
  16. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control standards and adheres to the guidelines for handwashing, standard precautions, and bloodborne pathogens as required by DOSH.
  17. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by peers and management.
  18. Demonstrates awareness of safe work habits and maintains a safe working environment by adhering to department and hospital policies, including but not limited to, zero lift, SDS, body mechanics and ergonomics.
  19. Demonstrates compliance to all Human Resources policies, including but not limited to, attendance, dress code, smoking, and name badges.
  20. Attends department meetings and participates in mandatory education.
  21. Conducts self in a professional manner and is pleasant, respectful, and courteous in all interactions with patients, families, staff, and other visitors to the hospital.
  22. Promotes effective working relationships and works cohesively with employees both within and outside of the department.
  23. Understands and demonstrates the mandatory reporting process for abuse or neglect as required by the Department of Social and Health Services.

Salary Range:

$19.86 - $28.36
